Experimental astrophysics facility in Göttingen

Experimental astrophysics is an ever growing and multi-disciplinary field. It ranges from engineering topics like building instruments for the E-ELT or other telescopes, till atomic and molecular physics needed for I2-gas cells used for calibration of spectrographs. At the institute of Astrophysics Göttingen we established an experimental facility to cover different topics. Our core science is accumulated around the different calibration methods for astronomical spectrographs. In this poster we present this facility including examples for I2-gas cells, Fabry-Perots, hollow-cathode lamps and our laser frequency comb. The facility is completed with a high-resolution Fourier-Transform-Spectrograph, effectively enabling stability measurements in the range of m/s and below.
